It has been a week - it is now time for me to share some more purple zombie love. Yay Purple! Yay inanimate zombies that will not actually eat my brain!

This asymetrically horned sock creature has obviously just eaten an entire large cherry pie. It is very hard to have good table manners when you do not have opposable thumbs. On offer from Underroos for $20, he is one of an army of colorful sock monsters.

Rocky the Zombie reminds us that even zombies are afraid of something - in this case it's an anthropomorphic dinosaur, or maybe a mutated snapfish. I am not sure what it is, but it is unnerving to say the least. At $15 this original painting is a steal; a very cute steal.

It's never too early to teach your child (or your neighbor's child or that screaming kid in seat 4a, who's parents didn't have the sense to sit behind the bulkhead so their kid would be kicking the wall instead of your sacrum) the value of respecting their tools and the joy of taking their art with them every where.

Two of my favourite kid's art organizers are below - both offer a convenient, compact way to store and carry crayons and drawing paper. One of the best features is that the scrap paper can be easily replaced - either with notepads or 3x5 notecards available from any office supply store.

Original - Affordable - Tile Pendants

Learning to love pendants is a great, economical way to keep a wide jewellery wardrobe within a budget. Just two or three chains of varying thickness, perhaps a nice silver box chain and a black silk cord, and your stash of pendants will keep you coordinated for any day's outfit.

Some are the rather ubiquitous Scrabble tile pendants that seem to be everywhere these days (are my mother and I the only ones who still actually play the game?), some are glass and the Ultimate Answer is clay, but they are all lovely.

I have a bit of a crush on Amy Sedaris, who still does not have her own website, but she does have a fabulous book (I like You: Hospitality Under the Influence) and one of the recommendations I totally agree with is that stationery, address books and stamps make great gifts for Housewarming, Engagement and Graduation gifts.

And as someone who knows that your child's schoolteacher absolutely does not want to receive another mug or teddy bear holding a bag of candy, I can say that an attractive box of notecards makes a lovely alternative.
