Spring has sprung (and is almost done)!

I assure you these are not the gore-stained hands of a particularly tidy zombie who's just taken down another don - they are the hands of a woman who has just hulled twenty pounds of strawberries. The sidebar tally is not up this year - we gave up weighing after the first 130 pounds of strawberries harvested. By volume we're up to about 200. All I need to know is that I will be set with bright fresh strawberries from the freezer in February.

I've also spent a great deal of time getting yelled at every time I walk out the back door, by the momma robin who built her nest under my deck. I am quite possibly dying from the beady-eyed cuteness:

They are much more charming than the broody hen who's gone all bitchy and pecks at my arms everytime I try to steal her babies for my breakfast.

Also, my roses are in full bloom. I love my roses nearly as much as I love spring pea plants - possibly more, actually, since roses don't require harvesting.

And, lest you think they are tidy little tea-roses, here's the overgrown bush in all it's wild glory:

Original - Affordable - Zombies!

It has been a week - it is now time for me to share some more purple zombie love. Yay Purple! Yay inanimate zombies that will not actually eat my brain!

This asymetrically horned sock creature has obviously just eaten an entire large cherry pie. It is very hard to have good table manners when you do not have opposable thumbs. On offer from Underroos for $20, he is one of an army of colorful sock monsters.

Office Flair from SickonSin! These adorable zombie children are available as either pinback buttons for your bag or as magnets to brighten up that filing cabinet. Either way, they are guaranteed to bring a giggle to your day, and at $6 you can afford to share the love!

Rocky the Zombie reminds us that even zombies are afraid of something - in this case it's an anthropomorphic dinosaur, or maybe a mutated snapfish. I am not sure what it is, but it is unnerving to say the least. At $15 this original painting is a steal; a very cute steal.

tinaseamonster - seamonsters and zombies

It is time to carry my zombie-love a little farther. I feel safe posting here that I purchased my beloved a Mr. Z Valentine's card because I happen to know he doesn't read this blog. I *heart* tinaseamonster's work in a big, fat, silly, doofy way.
Especially Mr. Z.
If I had a baby, I would buy one of those t-shirts (which are being discontinued, snatch one up now!)

And if you are thinking you have totally missed out on sending a hip seamonster Valentine, click the links - they will take you to your chance to purchase a crystal clear pdf of the image of your choosing.

But Wait, there's more:
There's a blog, with a fabulous Valentine's 'Conversation Heart' sculpture of a heart and a gut-wrenching reminder to actually converse with those you love (and not on Facebook, either, but pick up the phone, dammit) as well as some fun art and ramblings

There's a podcast, although I still do not participate in the multi-media aspects of ye olde interwebs any farther than listening to the radio via my computer, so I cannot speak for it's content (but I bet you a dollar it's fun.)

And there's the multi-talented (multi-authored) blog/tutorial/events calendar/source of goodness: HelloCraft!
The gist: zombies make good art, good crafts, and happy good times. Okay, maybe not the 'happy good times,' but definitely zombies make good art.

Rocky the Zombie

I like purple. A lot. I also like stick figures and similar simple line drawings. I also like zombies and cartoon vampires and werewolves. So you can imagine my joy when I did an internet search for 'purple zombie' and discovered RockyTheZombie.

They are so sweet and romantic - how can you grumble when a cute little dead person is given a bouquet of balloons to another cute little dead person? Any of these would make a fabulous Valentine's present - even the one with the broken heart; except that is the one you give to one of your mates when they've just added a new 'ex' to their list of loves.
