WIE Winter 2011 quilts

It's officially nearing the end of winter - less than four weeks to go and we can trumpet the horns to welcome spring! Here's some of the lovelies that made it to the Woman's Industrial Exchange in Baltimore this week: Roman Road - hardly original, and not very true, considering those aren't actually roman squares on either side of the median, but that's what this one's called, anyway.

this one's a split Roman square - my love of strict architectural sashing is going to earn me an intervention one day!

This one is called 'This way and That' because it looks like a traffic pattern on a divided highway - some going this way, some going that way, with a field of wildflowers between them.

It pains me just a little bit that my husband likes this loud jumble best - 'But, honey, there's no WHITE SASHING!' him: 'I know, I like it better this way'

this is a close-up of the great floral grid - there were huge long (okay, 20") strips with white sashing and it desperately needed some strong orderly quilting to hold it together.

and this is the reverse of the grid quilting. Took - for-ever, but I like it!

I find it kind of ridiculous that I haven't posted in over a month. Everyone who gets this on the RSS feed may well have forgotten who I am by now! It's been a very busy autumn and I'm still in the thick of things as it were. I've been working on a queensized quilt that is royally kicking my butt. I have underestimated every aspect of this beast except the amount of thread needed - from the time necessary to fussy cut the charm squares to the time it takes to get all these scrap fabrics to play well with each other.

In the midst of all this I've been planning some new WVP and Welcome Home Quilt designs for spring. So, it's time for a clear-out of existing stock. My custom quilt productions start at $0.065 / square inch and go up to $0.17 / square inch depending on the complexity of the pattern. Any pattern with triangles is going to be higher, patters with rectangles are less. This includes all fabrics, up to ten hours of design, colour and layout consultation, 100% cotton batting and backing, machine quilting and hand-finished binding.

I require a 30% non-refundable deposit before beginning and the balance on completion.
